Let the chaos begin!

Our boys are "home" with us!  The last 36 hours have been a bit of a whirlwind, to put it mildly.  When Dan and I were visiting the NICU on Thursday evening, the neonatologist on duty came on rounds and started talking to us about our boys possibly being ready for release the following day.  Dan, the nurse, and I must have all had the same shocked expression on our faces!    On the way home, we talked about what Friday might bring, and did not have an easy time falling asleep once we crawled into bed.  Friday morning we did a bunch of organizing and setting up (as much as we can given that we're away from home!).  We phoned the NICU, and the Dr. was confident they were ready to be released.  They needed to pass a carseat test, where they sat in their carseats for an hour hooked up to their monitors.  So, after the carseat test, and a half-feeding to keep them content on the drive, we were on our way!  When we got home, the girls were so excited to see their baby brothers.  They make us laugh asking who's who, and pointing at each baby, saying things like "That guy's got his eyes open!"  "Why is that one sleeping?"
Overnight was interesting.  :)  I'm glad my mom is still here.  I think between the 3 of us, there was someone up with the boys for all but a couple hours over the course of the night.  The nurses warned us they may be especially fussy overnight for a few days, because early babies can be extra sensitive to changes in their environment.  It probably doesn't help that we're not yet completely used to their schedule and being their primary caregivers, either.  Whatever the case, we're glad to have them here with us!  We'll post some photos soon.  :)
