There's a bear up there!

Dan and I decided to resurrect our old habit of taking a walk first thing each morning. Over the winter, and with a little baby, our walks had fallen to the wayside. We've been trying to go right before supper, either walking or biking, but we've found supper always gets late, and our children always get crabby!! Anyway, we were coming up the final hill back into the subdivision from the perimeter trail which circles the town, and out of the woods to our right comes a bear, about 20 feet up the trail! (The photo was snapped last summer from the car, driving up toward the ski hill, but this morning's bear was similar) Luckily, Dan had just leashed Sterling. The bear stopped and looked at us, then took a couple steps toward us (at this point, Dan claims I went from saying "Abigail, look at the bear" to "Oh, crap!") and then it stopped and just looked at us for a minute. :) :) When we got our wits about us, we started shouting and clapping our hands, and the bear ran away. I'm glad there were no baby bears about!
