Almost On Our Way

It's been over a week since our last blog post.  That's because life has gone from busy to crazy.  It's been wonderful to have the boys home from the hospital.  They are a joy and a delight.  However, they are also very time consuming.  This extra time commitment is especially noticeable over the course of an overnight.  Typically, an overnight feed and change takes 2 hours each time.  We are usually up twice a night for each feed.  So, we're learning to live on 4 less hours of sleep a night and trying to make up for it through daytime naps.  Nonetheless, life is good.  We continue to be so thankful for the precious gifts that our new sons have been to our family. 

Last Monday (June 28) we met again with the orthopedic specialist.  He was happy with William's progress, but asked that we come back again today (Monday, July 5).  Going into the appointment today we were hopeful that this would be his last, and it was.  After removing the cast, the doctor concluded that William's club foot had made the necessary progress to be sent home with a two week cast.  Even better than that, the doctor felt that his foot looked so good that he could be recast without undergoing a tenotomy (the cutting of the tendon in his foot).  After two weeks his cast will be removed and he will begin wearing corrective shoes and bars for the next 2 months (23 hours a day). 

The best news of all is that we are now free to leave the lower mainland and to head back to our home in Smithers.  We're still packing up, but are hoping to hit the road in the next couple of days and to be home in the Bulkley Valley in time for the weekend.  We look forward to seeing the many of you up north who have been following our progress from afar.
